Robert Worth

Robert Worth with Dulcimers

Instruments

West Virginian, Robert Worth uses local, selectively-harvested eastern hardwoods and western red cedar to craft clocks, dulcimers, harps and hammered dulcimers.

Worth has been working with wood for over 20 years, making fine musical instruments and home furnishings such as clocks, tables and chairs. His woodworking pieces can be found across the country, from Maine to California.

He is a juried member of West Virginia's craft guild and has many pieces displayed at Tamarack, West Virginia's craft showplace.

"My instruments are made by hand, keeping in mind a reverence for each piece of wood.

Grandfather Mantel Clock

Clocks

I admire the woodwork of George Nakashima, who once said, 'Every board contains within it an ideal expression of the spirit of the tree from which it was taken', and that, 'it is the woodworker's mission to determine how to release that spirit-- whether for instance, the board should become a tabletop, a chair seat or a cabinet door.'

Each piece of wood has a purpose, and I do my best to find that purpose and release the spirit and beauty of the wood."

Sleepmask - Butterflies 1

Sleepmasks

When he's not making beautiful instruments, Worth handsews "Eye Pajamas", cotton-lined sleepmasks in dozens of patterns.

Prices range from$11.00 for the Sleepmasks to $2495 for the Grandfather Mantel Clock with Nine Bell Triple Chime.
