Green Art
From the beginning, Art has celebrated Earth's beauty. However, all too often the act of creation has hurt the very beauty it honors. Many traditional art materials are toxic, both in use and in manufacture. Now, more and more artists are experimenting with recycled and earth-friendly materials and ideas. The result has been an explosion of creativity and innovation.
Artist Normandie Hyatt creates recycled fabric collages (above) and botanical "portraits" (left) on themes inspired by the landscape and weather of Vermont's Northern Green Mountains. Prices range from $20.00 for the Botanical Portraits to $40.00 for the handsewn, Recycled Fabric Collages.
Photographer Eric Slayton's black and white studies of birds of prey are reproduced as notecards printed on recycled paper. Prices range from $5.50 for a set of 4, to $14.00 for a set of 12 Notecards
Printmaker David Goodrich celebrates natural and historic landmarks in his pen and ink drawings. He reproduces them as archival prints and as notecards printed on recycled paper.. Prices range from $7.00 for the a set of 6 Notecards to $80.00 for double-matted, hardwood-framed Prints.
