Parthenogenesis is a biological term which refers to the ability of some female organisms to produce viable offspring without fertilization from a male. This piece was made from the April 1999 issue of Vogue magazine over the course of 4 weeks. It measures 2' x 3' and is suspended about 16" away from the wall, in front of a mirror.
Tania Kupczak is a graphic and textile artist in Burlington, Vermont. Her work has recently centered around "paper punch collage" on glass. Using only one magazine, a glue stick and a piece of glass, she builds images which are meant to be viewed from many sides, including reflections in mirrors situated behind the work.
