Welcome!

You'll find a lot of information here at GreenSense, and now some unique, sustainably-produced products as well.

We know how annoying it can be to follow link after link, each one promising information, but delivering yet another menu... So, with a few exceptions, every information link here at GreenSense goes directly to a document, and every link is captioned to give you an idea of the document contents before you click. Since much of our information is in the form of offsite links, we suggest you bookmark GreenSense HOME now, so you can return whenever you wish.

About GreenSense

This site grew out of our efforts to educate ourselves. We want our children to grow up in a world that is becoming more beautiful, more peaceful, more in harmony with nature, so we've been out exploring, looking for ways to help it happen (and we're nowhere near finished, so you can expect ongoing additions).

Our approach is global, in more ways than one: we figure it's easier to care for the environment if we feel great and get along with each other than if we don't, so we seek out personal and family growth information as well as tips on energy conservation and global action (click for categories). We share what we have found hoping that you will find some of it useful.

We do need to eat from time to time, and pay our ISP, so we've created the GreenSense General Store, a collection of extraordinary products and services, provided by individuals and companies determined to make their policies as green as their products. Of course, we DON'T want to encourage unnecessary consumption. We DO want to encourage your support of sustainable commerce- since much of the damage of consumption is the due to the non-sustainable practices of today's corporate-dominated market.

If you already have more stuff than you need, you can support our efforts by becoming a member. If you run a "green" business, you can support GreenSense and convey your message at the same time by joining our Marketplace. If you have more energy than money, you can still support our efforts by writing letters, articles, book reviews or summaries, by reporting on what's green in your neighborhood, or by sharing tips or links.

We hope you will enjoy your visit ....and that you will find some information you can use. We welcome any comments or suggestions you may have. If you come across a webpage you think would be useful, we'd love to hear about it. Of course, if you discover a "broken" link, or other problem anywhere at GreenSense, we'd very much appreciate it if you let us know.

Sincerely,

Alan, Jessica & Aaron Wagener

P.S. To save you time and conserve internet bandwidth, we've made this site as graphics-free as possible. We do need graphics to illustrate some products, but we have attempted to make them as optional as possible. That means all graphics have descriptive tags in text, and even thumbnail sketches are clickable, so you can browse with "image autoloading" turned off if you wish.

ABOUT GreenSense

Smaller and Better

We're learning that having a majority of small, locally-owned businesses is inherently better for a community than being dominated by a few large, distantly-owned ones. The many benefits add up to a healthier community- one that feels better to live in, and costs the larger community (i.e., taxpayers) less for services.

So, the money you spend here will do more than help support us at GreenSense and the people whose products you purchase. It will help to strengthen all of our local communities as well.

You can help make this happen: If you come across a small, locally-owned business (artist, craftsperson, manufacturer, etc) that has a product or service you think would be of interest to GreenSense visitors, suggest they visit our vendors info page, or give us a call at 802-660-3174.
